Short version: we ask for an email address only if you want the printable guides, and we do not track you around the internet.

The short version
You can read every page on this site without giving us anything. There is no account to create, no login, and no advertising tracker following you from page to page. The only personal information we ever hold is an email address, and only if you type one into the signup box yourself.
What we collect
If you sign up for the printable guides, we store:
- Your email address.
- Which guide you asked for, and any others you request later.
- Which page you signed up from.
- The date and time you signed up and the date of your most recent request.
- Whether you have unsubscribed, and whether email to your address has bounced.
That is the complete list. We keep which guide and which page because it is the only signal we get about what readers actually came here for, and it is what tells us which guides to write next.
What we do not collect
- No name. We never ask for one.
- No IP addresses. Our signup form does not record or store them.
- No advertising or tracking cookies. This site sets none, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
- No third-party analytics scripts, and no Google Analytics.
- No payment details, because nothing here is for sale.
- No profiles built about you, and no data bought from anyone else.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your email address, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing. Two companies necessarily handle it, both as service providers acting for us:
- Cloudflare hosts this site and stores the signup database. Like every web host, its servers process routine connection information in order to serve pages and block attacks.
- Amazon Web Services delivers our email, so your address passes through Amazon Simple Email Service when we send you something.
We would also disclose information if the law actually required it, which has not happened.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to stop. If you unsubscribe, we mark the record as unsubscribed rather than deleting the row outright, so that a later signup cannot quietly add you back without your knowing. If you would rather be erased completely, say so and we will delete the record itself.
Getting out, or getting a copy
Reply to any email we send you and say so. A person reads it. You can also write to [email protected]. Ask us to unsubscribe you, to send you a copy of what we hold, or to delete it entirely, and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason, and you do not need to be in any particular country to ask.
Children
This site is written for adults planning a visit. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we will remove the record.
Links to other sites
We link out to trailheads, museums, restaurants and city pages constantly, because checking businesses against their own websites is the whole point of this site. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will change this page and move the date at the top. There is no version of this site that quietly starts collecting more than the list above without saying so here.
